　　海口，因椰树成林而称为椰城，是一座洋溢着热带滨海风光、海岛都市风情、南洋文化情调的生态旅游城。作为海南的省会之城却同时拥有海景、江景、河景，江海相连，水系纵横，进退从容，是全省政治、经济、科技、文化中心和交通通信枢纽。

　　海口自然地理环境优越，生态环境世界一流，空气质量在全世界158个大中城市中名列第五，被誉为“天然氧吧”，是世界卫生组织选定为中国第一个“世界健康城市”的试点城市。她拥有众多令人心仪的光环：首批中国优秀旅游城市、人居环境极佳城市和国家历史文化名城；中国第一个被列入“世界重要湿地名录”的“东寨港红树林”是 我国第一个红树林保护区，2005年《中国国家地理》杂志评选“中国最美八大海岸”，“东寨港红树林”名列第四；范围达108平方公里的“城市火山”——中国雷琼海口火山群世界地质公园，是世界上保存最完好的休眠火山之一，区内古树参天、人文荟萃的古村落，是文化人类学者慕名考察之地，是海口人文历史的重要载体；吸引众多探寻目光的琼北大地震废墟---海底村庄是世界罕见的陆陷成海的海底奇观；110公里长海岸线上，清新自然的“翡翠海岸”和“钻石海湾”温泉热涌，海岸与温泉共存，国内罕见，景观独特，是海口发展滨海度假旅游的最大资源之一，沿海岸、海湾兴建的“海岸温泉度假酒店”、“海岸高尔夫”、“游艇中心”是休闲度假的最佳选择。

　　海口从来就不是一个封闭的城市。她是一座开放之城，海港之城。它位于海南岛的北端，处于华南经济开发带的前沿位置，毗邻港澳台、东南亚、是连接大陆和东南亚的枢纽，发展华南经济圈的区域合作和外向型经济有着得天独厚的地理优势。作为中国最早的十大通商口岸之一，海口是中国资本主义最先发端的地方，是中国通往南洋的必经港口，如今风情依旧的海口“百年老街骑楼群”记载着她的南洋交往史，著名的“海上丝绸”之路诉说着海口曾是南洋文化圈风生水起的宝地；众多的外国领事馆和殖民建筑则显示海口曾是一个对外交往频繁、深受殖民文化影响的城市。

　　海口有着自己悠久的历史，有值得骄傲的文化名人和文化古迹。五公祠里备受敬重的唐宋“五公”，金花村中的千古清官海瑞和岭南大儒丘浚，攀丹村的八大进士构成海南明朝文化奇观；苏公祠、海瑞墓、海瑞故居、丘浚故居、秀英古炮台、琼台书院、琼州府城遗址、新坡冼夫人庙等人文古迹文化底蕴厚重深沉，令人喟叹，满足了人们探寻海南本土文化、移民文化和贬官文化的学术诉求和旅游热情。

Haikou, known as the coconut city, is the capital of Hainan Province, the largest special economic zone of China. Haikou is the center of politics, economy, technology, culture, transportation and communication terminal-junction within the province. It is endowed with excellent natural and geographical environment, summer throughout the whole year, first class air quality and ecological environment in the planet. With air quality listed in the top 5th among 158 large and medium sized cities in the world, Haikou is rewarded as Natural Oxygen Bar, while chosen by the World Health Organization as the first mode city of World Healthy City in China, first lot of Excellent Tourism City of China, Excellent Residential City and National Famous Historical & Cultural City.
